Hudson, NH Parking Rules: Preferential Parking Districts (2026)

1, Permitted parking in Benson Park, added July 12, 2016 by Ordinance No. 16-03, establishes up to five permit parking spaces on the top parking area of Benson Park. The Benson Park Committee, not the general Board of Selectmen, administers the program: an applicant must be a recognized volunteer for Benson Park and show proof of a valid vehicle registration and driver's license. Permits run on an annual cycle, issued April 1 and expiring March 31 of the following year, and each is valid for exactly one year.

The permit must be displayed on the driver's side of the dashboard, positioned to be easily seen through the windshield, and the Committee keeps an electronic record of every permit it issues. Permits are not transferrable between vehicles or people, and either the Benson Park Committee or the Board of Selectmen can revoke one. Permits are also color-coded and the color changes every year, letting an officer spot an expired-year permit at a glance. 1(8) makes them first-come, first-served among current permit holders on any given day; holding a permit is not a guarantee of a space.

A vehicle parked in a Benson Park permit space without a properly displayed, current permit is treated as parked in a restricted parking zone and is subject to the fines in § 317-15 and removal under § 317-16, the same removal authority the Police Department uses for other Chapter 317 parking violations.
