Alameda Municipal Code 8-7.11 bans parking or leaving any recreational vehicle, trailer, or boat trailer on city streets at any time. The only exception is a temporary Police Department permit, capped at 24 hours and two permits per vehicle each calendar month.
Alameda is a dense Bay island, and the City of Alameda enforces its own rule that is far stricter than California's baseline. Alameda Municipal Code (AMC) Section 8-7.11 makes it unlawful for any person to park or leave unattended any recreational vehicle (as defined in Health & Safety Code 18010), trailer (Vehicle Code 630), or boat trailer (whether or not hitched to a motor vehicle) on the streets of the City of Alameda. There is no general grace period - the prohibition applies around the clock. Violating vehicles may be towed to and stored at an impound facility at the owner's expense. The one carve-out is a temporary permit issued by the Alameda Police Department: each permit covers a maximum 24-hour period, and no more than two temporary permits will be issued for any single RV, trailer, or boat trailer within a single calendar month. Residents obtain these permits at the Police Department front counter. This city ban goes beyond California Vehicle Code Section 22507, which lets cities regulate but does not itself prohibit RV street parking. Note that AMC 8-25.1 separately bars human habitation in campers, house cars, and similar vehicles on any public place between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Towing and impound at the owner's expense for any RV, trailer, or boat trailer parked on a city street without a valid Police Department temporary permit.
