Haverhill, MA Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

City Code § 240-105, adopted under Article XIV, On-Street Storage, bars parking or storing a boat, pickup camper, trailer or recreational vehicle on any way or street used by the public, or on other public property, for more than 24 hours within any 30-day period. An owner who needs longer must get approval from the City Council and Mayor; the request first goes to the Police Chief and the Director of the Department of Public Works for a recommendation before the Council and Mayor act.

The section applies to public ways and public property in Haverhill, not to storage on a resident's own driveway or yard, which the on-street storage article does not reach. Enforcement runs through the same removal authority the rest of Chapter 240 uses: Section 240-107 lets the City tow vehicles found parked or standing in violation of this article under Article IX (Removal of Vehicles) of the same chapter, in addition to any fine. Because the clock runs on a rolling 30-day window rather than a calendar month, a boat or camper parked at the curb for a single overnight stay does not violate the section, but repeated multi-day parking on the same street can trigger the 24-hour cap even without one continuous stay exceeding a day.

Owners seeking an exception, for example to load a camper before a trip, should route the request to the Police Department or DPW rather than parking first and asking later, since approval is required in advance of the extended stay.
