Section 7.06.100, in Chapter 7.06 Stopping, Standing and Parking, regulates oversized vehicles left on Lafayette streets, including the campers, trailers and boat trailers residents most often bring home. Subsection B caps any trailer, alone or coupled to a tow vehicle, at eight feet in width, ten feet in height and thirty-six feet in length, measured to include any load carried, except while actually loading or unloading. Subsection G goes further for campers and trailers specifically: none may be parked on a street unless coupled to a vehicle capable of legally towing it, a rule meant to keep unattached campers and boat trailers from sitting on city streets indefinitely; the ordinance carves out an exception only for a dumpster trailer holding a permit under Chapter 8.09.

The same section separately limits trucks and buses to an eight-by-ten-by-twenty-eight-foot envelope, bars any vehicle over seven and one-half feet wide on an unimproved street or one narrower than forty feet, and bars any vehicle over seven feet high within fifty feet of an intersection. A violation carries the general Chapter 7.06 fine under § 7.06.990(A)(8): fifty dollars for each violation not otherwise specified in that section, with escalation to $100.00 after thirty days unpaid and to $150.00 after sixty days.
