Winter Haven, FL Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Sections 21-146(f) through (h) of the Winter Haven Unified Land Development Code separately regulate trailer, recreational vehicle and watercraft storage in residential zoning districts. Trailers and recreational vehicles kept for storage must sit in the side or rear yard, at least five feet from the property line, and cannot sit between the public street and the living area of the principal building; while stored they must stay in good repair and cannot be used for junk accumulation, sleeping, eating, living or business. Recreational vehicles get one added allowance: an RV may park in the driveway, or within ten feet parallel to the driveway on the side nearest the property line, for up to seven days in a calendar year, provided it stays at least fifteen feet from the curb, five feet from the side property line, and does not overhang the sidewalk; a day counts as more than eight hours in a 24-hour period.

For longer-term storage in that same driveway-adjacent area, the RV must sit at least sixty feet from the front property line. Watercraft may be kept in the side yard, rear yard or driveway, at least five feet from the property line and at least fifteen feet from the edge of the street pavement, but driveway storage is capped at two watercraft per property. A lot with no principal structure on it cannot host a parked vehicle, RV, trailer or watercraft unless it is under common ownership with a lot that does have one.
