Anchorage on-street parking is generally free outside downtown meters. Vehicles cannot park more than 24 hours in one spot and must comply with winter snow-route bans October through April.
Anchorage Municipal Code Title 9 governs parking. Vehicles parked on a public street more than 24 continuous hours are subject to citation and tow. Downtown metered zones operate Monday-Saturday 8 AM to 6 PM; rates set by EasyPark Anchorage. Parking is prohibited within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, 20 feet of a crosswalk, and on sidewalks. Snow-route restrictions (see overnight-parking) suspend normal street parking on designated routes during declared snow emergencies. Blocking a driveway is grounds for immediate tow.
Basic meter violation 25 dollars. Fire hydrant 150 dollars. Snow-route violation 150 dollars plus tow fees.
