Chandler requires all residential vehicles to be parked on improved surfaces (concrete, asphalt, or masonry). Vehicles may not overhang into public sidewalks or streets under Section 30-19(J). Front yard parking limited to improved driveways.
Chandler City Code Chapter 35, Section 35-1802(10) permits motor vehicles in the front yard only on an improved driveway leading to required off-street parking. All parking surfaces must be masonry, concrete, or asphalt except in AG-1 and SF-33 districts where dust-free surfaces are allowed. Section 30-19(J) prohibits allowing any vehicle on private property to overhang into a public sidewalk, street, or otherwise interfere with pedestrian or vehicle traffic. The 2024 code amendments (Ordinance 5075, effective March 23, 2024) eliminated the requirement that on-site parking surfaces be connected to the garage, allowing side-yard driveways. Property owners must maintain sidewalks and abutting right-of-way areas.
Property maintenance violation. Civil penalty: $250 first offense, $500 second offense, $750 third offense within 24 months per Chapter 30.
