Jefferson County, WI Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Jefferson County Code § 20-29(c) requires vehicles on land owned or leased by the county to park only in designated parking stalls and designated parking areas, and separately bars parking on any highway, roadway or shoulder where parking is prohibited by posting or by yellow curb or roadway markings. The county administrator or a designee sets these restricted areas under § 20-29(b), including limiting parking to certain purposes, personnel, time periods, or requiring permits. , Monday through Friday except holidays, no one may park beyond the time posted signs allow, park in a permit space without a displayed permit, or leave a vehicle in a loading zone longer than 15 minutes.

Disabled parking stalls are reserved under § 20-29(e) for vehicles displaying the special plates or ID card issued under Wis. 14, and spaces reserved for a specific county department are limited under § 20-29(f) to that department's own vehicles. Beyond county property, § 20-30 separately declares any vehicle parked, stopped or standing on a highway in violation of the traffic chapter a hazard to traffic and public safety, and authorizes a traffic officer to have it towed to a public storage garage or other facility, with the owner or operator responsible for towing and storage costs.
