On-street parking in the City of Maricopa is governed by Municipal Code Chapter 10.20. MCC 10.20.030 prohibits stopping, standing, or parking on any city street, roadway, or right-of-way in a way that obstructs traffic, blocks sidewalks, or violates posted signs, and requires vehicles to park parallel to the curb, headed with traffic, with curbside wheels within 18 inches of the curb. Violations carry a $40 fine.
Maricopa Municipal Code 10.20.030 (Prohibited parking) states that no person shall stop, stand, or park any motorized or nonmotorized vehicle on a city street, roadway, or right-of-way unless directed by a police officer or authorized city agent, or as allowed by properly erected signs. Prohibited conduct includes parking so as to obstruct or impede traffic; parking on a sidewalk or in the area between the curb and sidewalk (or on uncurbed roadways in a way that forces pedestrians into the traveled roadway); and blocking alleys or driveway entrances except briefly for loading. Vehicles must be parked parallel to the edge of the roadway, headed in the direction of lawful traffic movement, with the curbside wheels within 18 inches of the curb or roadway edge. A violation of MCC 10.20.030 is punishable by a $40 fine. Curb-color restrictions in MCC 10.10.120 (red curbs = no parking; yellow curbs = loading only) and the citywide 72-hour limit in MCC 10.20.040 also apply to on-street parking.
Parking violations under MCC 10.20.030 are enforced by the Maricopa Police Department and carry a $40 fine. Vehicles obstructing traffic or posted no-parking zones may also be cited or towed under related provisions of Chapter 10.20.
