Lewisville, TX Public Conduct: Jaywalking (2026)

Lewisville does not impose a blanket jaywalking ban in the traffic chapter; instead, Section 15-62 restricts pedestrian crossing only at specific streets and intersections the city council has designated and posted with a sign. The section lists two current restricted stretches: Round Grove Road, also known as FM 3040, from 50 feet east of Old Orchard Lane to 50 feet west of Valley Parkway; and Valley Parkway itself, from 50 feet south of Main Street to 50 feet north of Kathy Lane, with an exception carved out for the designated pedestrian crossing within that stretch.

The prohibition is explicitly tied to signage: crossing is barred only 'when a sign indicating pedestrian crossing is prohibited is placed within or adjacent to such streets or intersections,' so the rule applies where the city has actually posted the restriction, not automatically along every foot of those roadways. Both restricted segments were added by city council ordinance, Round Grove Road and Valley Parkway under Ordinance No. 4141-12-2014 and later amended by Ordinance 0135-19-ORD in 2019, reflecting locations where the council found pedestrian crossings created a safety hazard along high-speed or high-volume roadways. Outside these two signed stretches, Lewisville's code does not otherwise restrict where a pedestrian may cross a street.
