Littleton, CO Public Conduct: Outdoor Smoking Restrictions (2026)

City Code chapter 10, adopted by Ordinance 2, Series of 2014 and amended through Ordinance 12, Series of 2020, defines 'smoking' broadly as inhaling, exhaling, burning or carrying a lit or heated cigar, cigarette, pipe or other tobacco or plant product intended for inhalation, expressly including marijuana, and it also covers electronic smoking devices. Section 6-10-2(A) draws an outdoor no-smoking zone bounded by the centerlines of South Rio Grande Street and Bega Street to the east, South Santa Fe Drive to the west, West Alamo Avenue to the south and West Powers Avenue to the north, with West Powers Avenue treated as if it extended all the way to Santa Fe Drive for boundary purposes; rooftop patios, back patios, alleys and privately owned parking lots inside that footprint are carved out as exceptions.

Subsection (B) separately bans smoking in a long list of indoor spaces regardless of the outdoor boundary, including public meeting places, elevators, transit vehicles, taxicabs, grocery stores, gyms, courtrooms, daycare facilities, healthcare facilities, every place of employment not otherwise exempted, restaurants and bars, gaming facilities, indoor sports arenas, common areas of multi-unit residential buildings, hotel rooms, bowling alleys and pool halls. Section 6-10-5 makes it unlawful both to smoke where prohibited and, separately, for a property owner, manager or operator to permit a violation on premises they control, or to fail to post the signage section 6-10-4 requires.
