Glynn County, GA Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Glynn County Code § 2-11-5(c)(2), part of the Park Use Ordinance (Chapter 2-11, Article I), makes it unlawful to ride, drive or take any bicycles, skateboards, scooters or unauthorized motorized vehicles onto the St. Simons Island Pier, the structure at Neptune Park operated under the custody of the Board of Commissioners of Glynn County as defined in § 2-11-1(f). The same subsection bars several other acts on the pier: jumping, leaping or diving off it or swimming within a 100-foot radius, possessing fish or crab bait unless contained to prevent spillage, leaving fish or crab remains or trash on the deck, docking or mooring a boat or watercraft without a Board-issued permit, and climbing on or being on any portion of the pier not designated for public use.

An Authorized Representative, defined in § 2-11-1 as an assigned member of the Glynn County Police Department, Auxiliary Police or Recreation and Parks Department, can direct a violator to leave the pier under § 2-11-2, and refusing to leave after that direction is a separate violation under § 2-11-8. The pier rules were adopted by Ordinance O#2001-02 and amended by O-2014-03.
