Ogden, UT Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Section 10-7-7 of the Ogden City Code targets skateboards, rollerskates, in-line skates and any coaster or toy vehicle ridden on wheels. Subsection A1 draws a specific downtown boundary where these devices cannot go on any public sidewalk or street: between 21st Street and 27th Street on Washington Boulevard, between 21st and 26th on Grant Avenue, between 24th and 26th on Lincoln Avenue and Wall Avenue, between Adams Avenue and Grant Avenue on 21st, 22nd and 26th Streets, between Adams Avenue and Washington Boulevard on 23rd Street, between Adams Avenue and Wall Avenue on 24th and 25th Streets, between 24th and 26th Streets on Kiesel Avenue, and between 25th and 26th Streets on Ogden Avenue, a zone that covers Historic 25th Street.

Subsection A2 separately bans these devices on the Municipal Gardens block (25th to 26th Street, Washington Boulevard to Grant Avenue) and on the public grounds surrounding Union Station. Riders also cannot use any roadway designed for vehicle traffic except while crossing at a crosswalk (A3), and reckless riding, defined as willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property, is prohibited on any public sidewalk citywide (A4), which also requires exercising due care around other sidewalk users. 50. Ogden Police enforce the section, which the city adopted by Ordinance 2014-33 on July 29, 2014; because the code's general penalty at section 1-4A-1 applies to any violation not otherwise specified, a skateboarding citation defaults to a class B misdemeanor.
