Ogden, UT Parking Rules: EV Charging (2026)

Ogden City Code section 15-12-3 sets electric vehicle charging requirements within the city's off-street parking chapter. 3: one space for 50 to 99 total spaces, two for 100 to 149, three for 150 to 199, and one additional charging space for every 50 spaces once the lot exceeds 200 spaces. Separately, residential developments that provide garage spaces for individual dwelling units must either install an electric vehicle charging facility inside each unit's garage, or wire an adaptable electrical system so a charging facility can be added later at a tenant's request without a major renovation or an electrical service upgrade.

Ogden's Community and Economic Development Department reviews compliance during site plan and building permit review for qualifying downtown-zone and residential projects; the requirement applies by zone and lot size rather than citywide, so surface lots outside the listed zones and lots under 50 spaces are not subject to the EV charging table. The same section 15-12-3 also sets bicycle parking minimums for residential and non-residential developments and directs the Community and Economic Development Director to set parking counts for uses not otherwise listed in the chapter, tying EV infrastructure into the wider downtown parking framework rather than treating it as a standalone permit.
