Ogden, UT Parking Rules: Driveway Rules (2026)

Ogden City's off-street parking and driveway standards sit in Title 15, Chapter 12 of the Ogden City Code, administered by the Community and Economic Development Department's Planning and Code Enforcement divisions. G requires that any driveway or accessway connecting a property to a public street be paved, and limits single-family and duplex driveway materials to concrete, asphalt, sod block, or masonry and stone pavers rated for vehicle weight; road-base, crushed concrete, and gravel are expressly disallowed for required parking pads, driveways, or drive strips, though drive strips themselves may run 16 to 24 inches wide with the interior space filled by landscaping or gravel.

F bars parking in the required front yard setback, or the side yard facing a street on a corner lot, for every use in the city, allowing only access lanes to cross that setback on the way to a side or rear parking area. 4 for single-family homes that are noncomplying as to the number of legal parking spaces: those lots may add up to two hard-surfaced front yard spaces, capped at 8 feet wide by 20 feet long by 7 feet high per vehicle, with a minimum 9-foot-wide surface and no vehicle overhanging the property line into the right-of-way.

Any hard surface installed must be graded so stormwater runoff drains away from neighboring lots and never crosses the public sidewalk. Violations of the parking and driveway standards are enforced as zoning code violations under Section 15-1-17, carrying a class C misdemeanor charge or escalating civil citations, with each day of noncompliance counted as a separate offense.
