Ogden, UT Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 10-5-22 of Ogden City Code defines a 'restricted vehicle' as any vehicle or trailer with a rated capacity of one and one-half tons or more, licensed for more than eighteen thousand pounds gross, longer than forty five feet, wider than eight feet, or as construction equipment or farm machinery outside the exceptions in sections 7-4-3 and title 7, chapter 5. Subsection B bans parking or leaving such a restricted vehicle standing on any street in a residential area of the city except while actually loading or unloading, and even then caps that loading stop at eight hours.

Subsection C treats a restricted vehicle as 'parked', even with the engine running, whenever it sits unattended by a lawfully authorized driver for more than three minutes, unless it is genuinely loading or unloading under subsection B. Separately, section 10-5-23 imposes a parallel twenty four hour cap on 'restricted recreational vehicles', oversized RVs exceeding seven feet in height, eight feet in width, or twenty feet in length, in residential areas, and bans parking one within thirty feet of an intersection. Both sections target the same problem: large trucks, trailers, and RVs occupying residential streets long-term rather than passing through or making a brief commercial stop.
