Weston, FL Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Chapter 100's Prohibited Activities section, § 100.02, lists a series of specific bans that apply inside Weston's Public Parks and Recreational Facilities. Subsection (C) addresses wheeled recreation directly, prohibiting bicycles, roller blades, roller skates, and skateboards on all basketball, tennis, and pickleball courts. The prohibition is narrow by design: it reaches only the surface of those three court types, not park pathways generally, and it does not extend to sidewalks, parking lots, or business districts outside the park system, so a skateboarder riding a sidewalk in Weston Town Center is not reached by this particular section.

The surrounding subsections of § 100.02 regulate the same parks for a cluster of related hazards: subsection (D) separately bars playing or practicing golf in Public Parks, subsection (B) bans glass containers, and subsection (A) keeps explosives, slingshots, and other dangerous items out, all under the same Prohibited Activities heading. Enforcement of the court restriction, like the rest of § 100.02, runs through the City's general penalty provision at § 2.99 because Chapter 100 does not carve out its own fine schedule: a Person cited for riding a skateboard, bicycle, or roller skates onto a Weston basketball, tennis, or pickleball court is subject to a fine of up to $1,000 for a first violation, an escalating fine for a repeat violation, or up to 60 days imprisonment, or both.

Because the ban targets specific playing surfaces rather than skateboarding itself, riders remain free to use skate-appropriate areas of a park, such as open pathways, so long as they stay off the enumerated courts.
