Short-term rental permit rules in Atlanta, GA β also called Airbnb permits, vacation rental licenses, or STR registration β list the application steps, fees, and operating requirements for hosting.
Atlanta requires a Short-Term Rental License (STRL) for all rentals under 30 days. The annual fee is $150. One license covers a host's primary residence and one additional dwelling unit. Enforcement began March 2022.
Atlanta Ordinance 20-O-1656 (Part 20 of the Code) requires all STR operators to obtain a STRL. Application requires proof of primary residence (utility bill dated within 6 months), proof of ownership or lease, and certified-mail notification to adjacent neighbors. License must be displayed on all listings. Non-compliance results in a mandatory 1-year waiting period before re-application.
Operating without STRL: citation and mandatory 1-year bar on future application. Three code violations within 12 months: license revocation.
