Redondo Beach maintains no short-term rental registry or registration process. Because STRs under 30 days are prohibited in residential zones, there is nothing to register, and the city does not list or track legal short-term rentals.
There is no short-term rental registration system in Redondo Beach. Unlike cities that license and number STRs, Redondo Beach treats any lodging of thirty (30) consecutive days or less as a hotel/motel use under RBMC 10-2.402(a), and that use is not permitted in residential zones per the land-use schedules in RBMC 10-2.501 and RBMC 10-2.511. As a result the city offers no registration form, registry, or compliance certificate for STRs. Property owners who rent for 31 days or longer are engaged in standard long-term residential rental, which is not a transient use. Owners of rental property may have separate, unrelated business-license obligations with the city, but those do not authorize short-term rental activity. The city has issued compliance notices to
Listing or advertising an unregistered short-term rental still constitutes a prohibited transient use; the city can pursue code enforcement and business-license revocation regardless of any registration.
