Las Vegas, NV Sign Regulations: Freeway-Facing Signs (2026)

120(F)(16) sets sign standards for the C-1, C-2, C-M and M districts. The baseline maximum height for a freestanding or monument sign is 40 feet. Two exceptions apply near elevated roadways. First, a freestanding sign within 200 feet of the right-of-way line of an elevated freeway or highway it faces may go up to 30 feet above the elevation of that freeway or highway at the point nearest the sign, stacking the bonus on top of the roadway's own grade. Second, signs within 200 feet of the right-of-way that are legible from Interstate 15, Interstate 215, US 95 (from the north city limits to the Oran K.

Gragson Highway), the Oran K. Gragson Highway itself, or Interstate 515 can reach a full 80 feet, but only when the City Council authorizes it after the Planning Commission reviews the application. Area is capped separately: the code allows 2 square feet of sign area per lineal foot of street frontage, with a 50-square-foot ceiling for signs within 40 feet of developed or planned residential property, rising 2 square feet for every additional foot of setback up to a 400-square-foot maximum. Every freestanding or monument sign under this table needs a minimum 5-foot setback from all property lines, and where a lot carries more than one such sign, they must be spaced at least 100 feet apart along the street frontage. Only one freestanding sign is allowed per 200 lineal feet of frontage in these districts, and a sign certificate is required before installation.
