Kyle, TX Sign Regulations: Garage Sale Signs (2026)

A single-family homeowner holding a garage sale may post one on-premises sign per street frontage, placed only at the property where the sale takes place (§ 29-20(c)(2)). Homeowners associations may instead sponsor a neighborhood-wide sale and post up to two signs per subdivision entrance; those signs can sit off the actual sale property, but only on land within the HOA's boundaries, including a street right-of-way, and the HOA itself must be registered with the city (§ 29-20(c)(3)). Every garage sale sign, whether individual or HOA, must stay at least 25 feet from a street intersection and at least 10 feet from the curbline, and none may be placed in the center median of a public or private street (§ 29-20(c)(4)).

The four-square-foot size cap and 72-hour, twice-a-year display limit apply regardless of who posts the sign (§ 29-20(c)(1)). Because the section falls under Chapter 29's temporary sign article, it sits alongside similar unpermitted temporary signage such as open house signs, which get four hours on the day of the open house, and real estate signs, which must come down within seven days of a completed sale, rental or lease.
