Sanford, FL Sign Regulations: Garage Sale Signs (2026)

Section 82-32(3) bars exhibiting a garage-sale sign or other advertisement for more than one day before the sale begins. Section 82-32(4) confines those signs to the property of the residence where the sale is being held, so a sign at a nearby intersection or on a neighbor's yard without permission is not authorized under this article. Section 82-32(5) requires removal of the sign on the last day of the sale, at the close of sale activities or by the end of daylight, whichever happens first, so a sign cannot linger overnight once the sale has ended.

These sign rules sit inside the same garage-sale article that limits sales to two per year and three consecutive daylight days, and the definition in § 82-31 covers any sale billed as a garage, lawn, yard, attic, porch, moving, backyard, patio, flea market or carport sale. Charitable, religious, educational, fraternal and governmental organizations are exempt from the entire article under § 82-33 when proceeds go directly to institutional purposes, so their sale signage is not governed by these placement and timing limits.
