Lawton City Code § 18-9-1-909(E) sets the standard for temporary window signs as a distinct category within the temporary signs article. The rule is a coverage percentage rather than a flat square-footage cap: the total area of all window signs, temporary and permanent combined, cannot exceed 25 percent of the window area on that storefront, meaning an existing permanent window sign eats into the space available for a seasonal sale banner. The category applies in every zoning district except R-1 Single-Family Dwelling, R-2 Two-Family Dwelling, R-3 Multiple-Family Dwelling, R-4 High Density Apartment, and P-O Professional Office districts, so it is aimed at retail and general commercial storefronts rather than residences or office buildings.

Signs may carry indirect illumination and must be built of paper, cloth, or similar expendable material, distinguishing them from permanent window signage. No permit is required for a temporary window sign, but the code still caps duration and frequency: any temporary window sign must come down within 30 days, and a business is limited to five temporary sign permits total per year across all of its temporary sign categories, with a renewed permit still counting toward that annual cap of five. That per-business annual ceiling, shared with the 'all other temporary signs' catch-all category in the same section, keeps a storefront from running a continuous rotation of 30-day window displays back to back without ever pausing.
