Palm Beach Gardens, FL Sign Regulations: Window Signs (2026)

Table 24 of the sign code sets the size limit for a 'Window Sign' at the lesser of 100 square feet or 20 percent of the gross glass area of the business, and the 'Other Limits' column adds that no more than 20 percent of total glass area may be covered by window signage and no single window or glass door may be more than 50 percent covered. The table restricts window signs to nonresidential zoning districts and to ground-floor and second-floor glass; sign copy counts toward the business's overall permitted sign area under section 78-287.

Materials must be permanent under section 78-287(a), and the exempt-sign provisions confirm that temporary, non-permanent display materials such as paper and cardboard are prohibited as window signage; only durable, fixed lettering or graphics qualify. Because a window sign is a permanent sign, section 78-276 requires the property owner or tenant to obtain a building permit and pay the applicable fee before installing one, and the building official may revoke that permit if the installed sign does not conform to Table 24. Signs erected without the required permit are treated as violations under section 78-271(b), which makes it mandatory to either obtain the permit after the fact or remove the sign immediately.

Growth Management's building division inspects signage as often as it deems necessary under section 78-276(c)(2), and Code Enforcement can pursue a noncompliant business through the special magistrate process in chapter 2, article IV for a sign that is not removed or brought into compliance.
