Jupiter, FL Sign Regulations: Window Signs (2026)

Sec. 27-3358(m), part of the general sign regulations in article XIII that apply townwide outside the districts with their own separate sign codes, sets the 25 percent ceiling on total window coverage for each individual commercial business. The calculation runs across all window areas facing the street, not window by window, which lets a shop concentrate more signage in one window as long as the overall street-facing total stays under a quarter of the glass, with the added floor that no single window can be covered 75 percent or greater with window signs.

The Code's definition of a window sign, in Sec. 27-1. Definitions, reaches beyond signage physically on the glass: it covers any sign attached to or painted on the interior or exterior of a window, and any sign placed within 12 inches of the window face that is intended to be viewed from outside, so a poster or display rack pulled just inside the glass still counts toward the 25 percent cap. Businesses inside the Mixed Use Development District follow a narrower rule instead: Sec. 27-1196(7) exempts a temporary window sign from the permit requirement altogether if it covers five square feet or 25 percent of the window area, whichever is less, but caps its display at 20 consecutive days in any three-month period.
