South Fulton, GA Sign Regulations: Window Signs (2026)

Table 7-1 under Section 707.01 governs window signs across the AG-1 district, single-family districts, and the townhome/apartment/manufactured-home districts alike: a lot may carry no more than three window signs, and each one is capped at four square feet or 25 percent of the area of the window it's placed in, whichever limit is smaller. Unlike some other sign types in the same table, a window sign permit is required (marked 'Yes' in the table) even though window signs are comparatively small. The table separately bars internal illumination for window signs in every one of the three residential and agricultural district categories it covers, meaning a backlit or lit-from-within window sign is not allowed regardless of size.

Section 707.02's parallel table for office, commercial, and mixed-use districts, and Section 707.03's table for industrial districts, set their own window-sign standards for those zones; Table 7-1's three-per-lot, four-square-foot/25-percent rule applies specifically to agricultural and residential property. A window sign still has to meet the general definitions in Section 702, which defines a window sign as anything applied, painted, or placed on, behind, or inside a window or windowpane and intended to be viewed from outside the building, and the general sign-location and construction standards in Section 706 apply on top of the numeric window-sign limits.
