Section 19-67 exempts a long list of minor 1- and 2-family repair work from the building permit requirement, but only when the value is under $1,000 in a rolling 12-month period and the work does not adversely affect nine listed systems. Item 7 on that list is solar photovoltaic systems, including module panels and interactive inverters, placing solar work in the same protected category as structural components, egress, and fire protection. Once installed, plumbing permits are separately required for roof-mounted solar collectors tied into the domestic water system, since Sec. 19-67(7)(c) excludes 'roof mounted solar collectors' from the plumbing-fixture-replacement exemption that covers other common fixtures. Electrical work for the interactive inverter and any subpanel changes falls under the standard electrical permit and inspection process in Sec. 19-156(2), including rough-in and final inspections before the system can be energized.
