Old Bridge Township's Construction Code Office, part of the Department of Community Development, administers solar permits under the State Uniform Construction Code. Township Code Section 108-4 states that the fee for a construction permit is the sum of the applicable subcode fees and must be paid before the permit is issued. For a residential solar array, the Building Subcode charges a flat $250 fee under Section 108-4.B(4), separate from the Electrical Subcode's photovoltaic system fee under Section 108-4.D(9): $500 for systems from 1 to 25 kilowatts, $650 for 26 to 50 kilowatts, $875 for 51 to 100 kilowatts, and systems above 101 kilowatts are priced by item and equipment rather than a flat tier.
