Street closure requests are limited to a one-time closure of a residential street affecting only single and multi-family homes, must cover a full single block without cutting off cross streets, alleys, or intersections, and must preserve local vehicle access to the homes on that block; the City's traffic engineer can deny the closure if it would be too disruptive or would trap residents, such as on a dead-end street.

The applicant must supply the street barricades, and fifty percent of the residents within the proposed closure must be notified and sign an acknowledgement before the City approves it. If the block party will include a food truck, the organizer must separately obtain a food service permit from the Williamson County and Cities Health District and a Georgetown Fire Department permit. Proof of insurance is not required for a plain block party, but it is required if the event has animals, bounce houses, amplified sound, floats, or a parade component, or if the special event rules otherwise call for it under Subsection B.
