Jackson, NJ Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Chapter 304, Article I of the Jackson Township Code governs who may use Township parks, recreation areas and facilities and on what terms. Section 304-2 gives any resident, taxpayer or other member of the public a general right to use park facilities and fields, but that right yields whenever the Recreation Department has scheduled its own program or has already issued a permit covering that period. Section 304-3, added by Ordinance No. 32-82, requires any organization, club, association or corporation organized for sports, recreation or entertainment purposes to obtain a permit before using Township facilities or fields as an organized group; the Recreation Department issues that permit as a written instrument naming the days and time periods for which it is valid.

Section 304-5 makes every rule and regulation the Township Committee (now Council) has adopted for the facility part of the terms and conditions of each permit automatically, so a group holding a permit is bound by the current rulebook even if the permit itself does not restate every rule. Section 304-6 lets the Township Council promulgate additional rules covering safety, hours of operation, staff duties and the age of facility users. If a permit holder breaks those rules, § 304-4 lets Township agents or representatives revoke the permit, and the holder remains liable for any damages or losses the Township suffers as a result, a liability that survives the revocation itself. Section 304-7 assigns enforcement of the whole article to the Police Department and the Recreation Department together.
