Lyon County, NV Special Events & Permits: Park Event Permits (2026)

Lyon County Code section 14.06.02 requires a permit to hold a special event in any county park and lists the factors the director weighs before approving one: the facility requested and its size and proximity to other facilities and residential areas, expected attendance, time of day, the nature, frequency and duration of noise the event would cause, restroom and hand-washing capacity, parking adequacy, whether alcohol or food will be served or sold, whether security is needed, risk of damage to the park, and whether the applicant already holds relevant permits and licenses such as a business license, sales tax permit, fire permit, health permit, street closure permit, liquor license and insurance.

Section 14.06.01 requires the director to make an application available listing the factors considered and any required supporting documentation. If the director denies a permit, section 14.06.03 requires a written statement of the reasons, and the applicant has 30 days to appeal the denial to the Board of County Commissioners, which reviews the decision against the same factors listed in section 14.06.02 and can sustain or overturn the director. Once issued, a permit is revocable for cause under section 14.06.04, including misrepresentation, changed circumstances, inclement weather or fire risk, or violations of park rules, county ordinances or state law by the permittee or an attendee; the director can also condition a permit, require a damage bond, and require the permittee to indemnify the county.

A related rule in section 14.06.05 separately requires written authorization from the director to run a concession, vending, peddling or public address system in a park.
