Piscataway, NJ Special Events & Permits: Street Fair Rules (2026)

Section 2-80.7.a fixes the vendor fee schedule for street fairs and similar events sponsored by the Public Relations Advisory Commission, the Township body that organizes Piscataway's community festivals. Craft and merchandise vendors pay a flat $40 entry fee, food and amusement ride vendors each pay $100, and truck vendors also pay $100. The Business Administrator holds discretion to waive some or all of these fees specifically when the event itself is Township-sponsored, so a community festival run directly by the Township can admit vendors free while a privately organized street fair using the same PRAC framework still collects the schedule.

Vendors setting up at a Piscataway street fair fall under the same litter rules that apply to any public gathering: § 3-1.4 requires litter receptacles at special events open to the public, including fairs and carnivals, and puts the responsibility for providing and servicing those receptacles on the event's proprietors or sponsors, not just the Township. That means a vendor or organizer who sets up a food or craft table at a street fair is also on the hook for keeping trash contained around that table, separate from any fee owed to the Public Relations Advisory Commission.

There is no separate street-vendor permit process printed in this chapter beyond the fee schedule itself; the fee functions as the vendor's authorization to participate once paid or waived.
