Nevada Fireworks Regulation and County Authority

Under NRS 244.367, county commissions may regulate or ban the sale, possession, and discharge of fireworks. NRS 268.418 grants similar authority to cities. Display fireworks (1.3G) require state licensing under NRS 477 and NFPA 1123 standards enforced by the State Fire Marshal. Consumer fireworks classified as dangerous (skyrockets, firecrackers above certain thresholds) are prohibited statewide. 'Safe and sane' fireworks are permitted only where local authorities allow, typically around July 4. Possession of illegal fireworks is a misdemeanor. Tribal lands and unincorporated areas often have separate rules administered by the State Fire Marshal under NAC 477.

Possession or discharge of illegal fireworks is a misdemeanor punishable by fines up to $1,000 and up to six months in jail under NRS 477.
