Texas Health and Safety Code Section 757 requires residential pools in Conroe to have a barrier at least 48 inches high with self-latching, self-closing gates. No openings larger than 4 inches.
Texas Health and Safety Code Section 757 mandates pool barriers for all residential swimming pools. Requirements include: a barrier (fence or wall) at least 48 inches in height surrounding the pool; self-closing and self-latching gates; the latch release must be at least 54 inches above the ground or on the pool side of the gate if lower; no openings larger than 4 inches to prevent child passage; and the barrier must be located at least 20 inches from the water's edge. Conroe's Chapter 14 adopts the International Residential Code which incorporates these barrier standards. Pool barriers that use the dwelling wall require door alarms or other safety measures.
Failure to maintain required pool barriers is a Class C misdemeanor under TX HSC Section 757. Pool permits will not be finaled without compliant barriers.
