Cart placement standards are set by the franchise hauler in compliance with Washington County Solid Waste rules and OSHA ergonomic requirements for automated side-loader trucks. Carts must be positioned on the curb or alley with wheels toward the house and handle facing the street, spaced at least 3 feet from other carts, parked cars, mailboxes, fire hydrants, and utility poles to allow the truck's mechanical arm clearance. Carts must be set out by 6 AM on service day. Lids must close flat — overflow cannot be bagged and stacked on the lid.
