Full Breakdown

Under City Code § 62-50(e), automated garbage, recycling, and yard waste containers cannot go to the curb earlier than 6:00 p.m. the day before the scheduled pickup, and residential customers must have them out no later than 7:00 a.m. (6:00 a.m. for commercial accounts) on collection day. Once emptied, containers must be back in storage by 10:00 p.m. that same day, and between collection days they belong in the side or rear yard, not the front yard, public easement, or right-of-way. Placement locations are separately fixed by § 62-50(d): at the driveway edge or curb, more than five feet from mailboxes, poles, parked cars, or other containers.

Violations & Fines

Carts left out past 10 p.m. or stored in the front yard/right-of-way, or set out before 6 p.m., violate § 62-50; the public works department can also bill a return-trip charge if a cart isn't properly placed by the pickup deadline.
