Queen Creek, AZ Trash & Recycling: Bin Placement Rules (2026)

Section 10-9-8 of the Town Code, Location for Collection, governs where a Residential Waste Service Unit must place its carts. Absent Town approval for backdoor service (granted only when every resident of a unit is handicapped or, due to age or a verified physical limitation, cannot safely move a cart), carts go 'at the curbside with the lids closed, the lids opening toward the street, and a minimum of two (2) feet apart to facilitate automated collection,' kept clear of street light poles, mailboxes, and parked cars; if parked cars block the mechanized truck's access, the resident must move the cart further into the street rather than blocking the sidewalk or driveway.

Bulk Waste goes in a 'neatly consolidated pile at the curbside' without blocking carts, the sidewalk, or traffic. Cart specifications come from § 10-9-10: contents can't exceed 200 pounds or the cart's rated capacity, 95 gallons for Solid Waste and Program Recyclables carts, 43 or 95 gallons for the optional Animal Waste cart depending on size. All carts remain Town property under § 10-9-10 even after a home is sold or a new resident moves in, and the resident must keep them clean and secured between collection days so they aren't readily susceptible to theft or vandalism, a duty carried over from § 10-9-9. A replacement cart is free for normal wear and tear; damage from other causes carries a Council-set fee.
