Ridgewood restricts when garbage and rubbish containers may be placed at the curb and requires removal by midnight on collection day.
Under Chapter 165 Article II, containers cannot be placed at the curb prior to 5:00 p.m. the night before scheduled collection or after 6:00 a.m. on the date of collection. By 11:59 p.m. on the day of collection, all containers must be removed from the curbside. The rule applies to all garbage and rubbish containers and is intended to maintain neighborhood appearance and reduce attraction of pests. Yard waste follows a similar containerization requirement.
Placing bins at the curb too early, leaving them out past midnight on collection day, or using non-compliant containers may trigger municipal fines and warning notices.
