Ridgewood, NJ Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Village of Ridgewood Code Section 165-22 assigns residential solid waste collection to the Village of Ridgewood Division of Solid Waste Control, which collects from designated premises Village-wide. The Village Manager is authorized to adopt rules and regulations governing collection procedures and the manner, time, and location of placement for collection; any such rule takes effect only after publication once in a newspaper circulating in the Village, and the rules must be kept on file at the Village Clerk's office for public inspection during regular business hours.

Section 165-22 also builds in a weather and safety valve: when the Village Manager, Director of Operations, Supervisor of Operations, Supervisor of Sanitation, or Director of Public Works determines that hazardous collection conditions exist along a route, meaning weather or environmental conditions that could injure Village employees, the Village suspends collection of solid waste and recyclables on all or part of that route until the hazard clears. Any materials missed because of a suspended route are picked up on the next scheduled collection date. 3906 in 2022, the Village may instead require residents to bring their garbage and rubbish containers to the end of their driveways until conditions improve, rather than suspending pickup outright.
