Alhambra residents get free bulky item pickup from Republic Services on their regular weekly collection day. Up to six bulky items per pickup need no advance scheduling; more than six, plus e-waste and appliances, require scheduling. Items must be curbside by 6 a.m.
The City of Alhambra provides free bulky item pickup through its franchised hauler, Republic Services, available weekly on each resident's regular trash collection day. For six or fewer bulky items, no prior scheduling with Republic Services is required; scheduling is needed for quantities over six (residential and multi-family), for all commercial pickups, and for electronic waste and appliances. Accepted items include furniture such as chairs, sofas, mattresses, rugs, cabinets, beds, and tables, plus bundled waste (tree limbs, palm fronds, wood, carpet) not exceeding 4 feet in length, 2 feet in diameter, and 50 pounds per bundle. Items must be placed curbside by 6 a.m. on the collection day, must not obstruct public pathways, and should not be set out before noon the day before collection. Not accepted at curbside bulky pickup are hazardous waste, construction debris, tires, paint products, and automotive fluids, which require separate disposal at designated facilities. To schedule larger or special pickups, residents contact Republic Services at 800-299-4898 or alhambra@republicservices.com. This generous no-appointment allowance is a City/franchise service feature rather than a state requirement.
Setting out prohibited materials (hazardous waste, construction debris, tires, paint, automotive fluids), oversized bundles, or items blocking public pathways may result in non-collection; residents must arrange proper disposal at designated facilities.
