Alhambra, CA Trash & Recycling: Pickup Rules & Schedules (2026)

The City of Alhambra holds an exclusive franchise agreement with Republic Services for residential and commercial collection, so residents cannot choose a different hauler. Republic Services provides a three-cart curbside program: black for trash, blue for recycling, and green for organics. Collection begins at 6 a.m., and the City instructs residents to have carts at the curb by then. Carts may be placed out no earlier than the afternoon before collection and must be removed before 6 a.m. the day after collection. Residential customers are billed quarterly in advance; commercial customers are billed monthly in advance. Rate documents covering residential cart rates, multi-family bin rates, commercial rates, and roll-off/temporary bin rates took effect July 1, 2025. Each street has an assigned collection day, which residents look up on the City's collection-schedule map or by contacting Republic Services (1-800-299-4898; alhambra@republicservices.com; office at 104 South First Street, Alhambra). Subscription to the City's organics program is mandatory for all residential and commercial premises under the City's organics ordinance, so all three streams are collected as part of the standard service rather than optional add-ons.
