Alhambra, CA Trash & Recycling: Bin Placement Rules (2026)

The City of Alhambra's property-maintenance guidance sets the timing and storage rules for solid-waste carts. Residents should "Place trash, yard waste, and recycling containers on the curb for disposal anytime afternoon on the day before collection and remove them before 6 am the day after collection." Because Republic Services begins collection at 6 a.m., carts must be at the curb by that time on the assigned day. Between collections, residents must "Store trash/recycling containers out of public view," which the City enforces as part of its anti-blight property-maintenance standards. Carts should be placed so they do not obstruct sidewalks, driveways, or the public right-of-way; for bulky items set out for pickup, the City similarly directs that items be placed curbside and not obstruct public pathways, and not be set out before noon the day before collection. For temporary roll-off or bin placement on the street, a separate street encroachment permit from the Public Works Department (1-626-570-5067) is required.
