Single-family households in Dublin get three free on-call Large Item Collections per contract year (July 1-June 30) through Amador Valley Industries, scheduled by calling (925) 479-9545 at least three days in advance. Each pickup is limited to seven cubic yards. Illegally dumping bulky items is a code violation.
Dublin residents dispose of large items through the franchised hauler's on-call program rather than placing them out on regular collection days. Amador Valley Industries (AVI) provides single-family households three free on-call Large Item Collection Services per contract year, which runs July 1 through June 30. Each collection is limited to seven cubic yards (roughly 9 feet long by 4 feet wide by 5 feet tall). Accepted items are those that do not belong in the garbage, recycling or food-scrap carts, including non-working appliances, furniture, electronics, mattresses and tires; small items must be bagged or boxed, and yard clippings or wood must be bundled, boxed or bagged and no longer than four feet. To schedule, call AVI at (925) 479-9545 at least three days in advance, and set the material at the curb no more than 24 hours before the pickup. Multi-family complexes are similarly eligible for on-call large item collection. Separately, dumping or abandoning bulky items illegally is not allowed: the city's property-maintenance and discarded-materials rules treat improperly discarded trash and debris as a nuisance, so abandoning furniture or appliances on a lot, street or public place can be cited under Chapter 5.64 and the discarded-materials ordinance. Residents with more items than the program allows can use a permitted disposal facility or arrange additional service with AVI.
Single-family service is limited to three free large item collections per contract year, up to seven cubic yards each. Items set out without scheduling, placed more than 24 hours in advance, or exceeding the size limit may not be collected. Illegally dumping or abandoning bulky items on a lot, street or public place is a nuisance under the property-maintenance and discarded-materials rules and can be cited.
