Amador Valley Industries asks Dublin residents to place carts at the curb the night before pickup, in the street, with at least three feet between carts so the automated truck can service them. Under city rules, residential carts must be removed the day after collection so they are not visible from the public street, except those stored in side yards.
Cart placement in Dublin follows the hauler's automated-collection requirements and the city's storage rule. According to Amador Valley Industries (AVI), to ensure pickup residents should place carts in the street at the curb the night before the scheduled pickup, and leave at least three feet between each cart so the automated truck can lift them. Carts should be clear of obstacles such as parked cars and low-hanging branches. Service is provided weekly, Monday through Friday except holidays, so residents should have carts out by their designated pickup time. For storage between collections, the city's container rule requires that all residential collection containers be removed the day after collection so as not to be visible from the public street, except for containers stored in side yards. Containers must also be watertight, noncorrodible and kept clean and sanitary. Carts left out and visible, or contributing to blight, may be addressed under the Property Maintenance Ordinance (Chapter 5.64), which lists untimely trash handling and unsightly outdoor conditions as nuisances. For commercial and multifamily properties, cart and bin set-out and collection occur within enclosures meeting Chapter 7.98 (Solid Waste and Recycling Enclosure Standards).
Carts set out late (not the night before), placed without three feet of clearance, or blocked by cars and branches may be missed by the automated truck. Leaving carts visible from the public street after the day following collection (other than in side yards) is contrary to the city's storage rule, and carts that create blight may draw Code Enforcement action under Chapter 5.64. Commercial/multifamily enclosures must meet Chapter 7.98.
