Little Elm offers periodic bulk item pickup for large items that do not fit in standard trash carts. Residents must schedule bulk pickups in advance through the town or its contracted waste hauler.
The Town of Little Elm provides bulk item collection service for residential properties. Bulk items include furniture, mattresses, large appliances (with doors removed for safety), and other household items too large for the 96-gallon trash cart. Residents must schedule bulk pickup in advance by contacting the town utility billing office or the contracted waste hauler. Items must be placed at the curb on the scheduled date, separate from regular trash carts. Bulk collection does not include hazardous waste, tires, construction and demolition debris, or electronics. Appliances containing refrigerant (refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers) may require special handling and should be confirmed with the hauler at scheduling. The town also coordinates periodic community cleanup events where residents can drop off bulk items and yard waste at designated locations. Construction debris from permitted home improvement projects must be placed in a rented roll-off dumpster or hauled to a licensed disposal facility by the homeowner or contractor. Illegal dumping of bulk items in vacant lots or along roadways is a violation of town ordinance and state law.
Unapproved bulk items left at the curb may not be collected and could result in code enforcement action with fines up to $500. Illegal dumping carries fines up to $2,000.
