Full Breakdown

Before setting out bulk refuse, furniture, boxes, and similar large items, a Murfreesboro resident has to call the Solid Waste Department and confirm a pickup date; unscheduled bulk items simply won't be collected. Between January 9 and December 24, pickup generally runs on 48 hours' notice, items go on the private side of the property at least five feet from the curb, and the City caps it at one bulk collection every 30 days with no more than four items. Separately, the code permanently excludes building debris, appliances, batteries, and tires from any City pickup, owners have to arrange private removal themselves.

Violations & Fines

Bulk items set out without a confirmed pickup date, placed too close to the curb, or exceeding the 30-day/four-item limit are left uncollected, and unauthorized accumulations of refuse are a public nuisance violation.
