Full Breakdown

Trimmings and clippings from residential properties must be neatly piled at the front property line, with tree limbs and logs cut to no more than six feet long and eight inches in diameter: anything larger isn't collected. Only one pile per residence is picked up at a time, capped at six cubic yards (roughly 72 by 72 by 54 inches); extra brush requires paying an additional collection fee. Grass and leaves must go in biodegradable paper bags rather than the pile, and Christmas trees are accepted only if stripped of ornaments, lights, and stands and not flocked.

Violations & Fines

Yard waste piles exceeding the six-cubic-yard limit, containing limbs over eight inches thick or six feet long, or placed on the sidewalk, street, or near a storm drain are left uncollected or draw enforcement under Code § 1-8.
