Full Breakdown
Sec. 12-10(q) covers large items that don't fit in the solid waste cart: mattresses, box springs, hide-a-beds, couches, recliners, chairs, tables, desks, entertainment centers, dressers, vanities, chest-of-drawers and headboards among them. These must be kept separate from regular solid waste, and no property owner, occupant or person in charge of the property may set them out for pickup unless a special pickup has already been arranged with the Department on its established schedule. Items placed curbside without a prior arrangement are not collected as bulk waste.
Violations & Fines
Setting bulk items curbside without a prearranged special pickup leaves them uncollected, and noncompliance with Chapter 12 draws the Code's general forfeiture: $10-$500 first offense, up to $1,000 for repeats, plus costs (§ 1-20).
