Doña Ana County, NM Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Section 287-4 of the Code of Doña Ana County requires residents to arrange for solid waste collection rather than leaving disposal to chance. ' The identical weekly floor applies to commercial users under § 287-4(C)(1), so a business cannot let a dumpster go longer than a week between pickups either, unless a self-service exemption applies. A commercial user may skip hiring a private hauler altogether under the § 287-4(C)(3) self-service exemption, but only if it independently follows every New Mexico Solid Waste Management Regulation for handling and transporting its own waste; it does not need to register as a hauler with the New Mexico Environment Department to qualify, but it still must meet the article's frequency and container standards.

Residents without private hauler service may instead use a County convenience station for waste generated by normal residential use of a single-family home under § 287-4(A)(1), though commercial users and private sanitation companies are barred from using those convenience stations. Chapter 287 applies only within the unincorporated county; Las Cruces, Sunland Park, Mesilla and Hatch run their own collection systems.
