Bartow County, GA Trash & Recycling: Dumpster Rules (2026)

Bartow County Code § 62-61 sets the permit rule for every collector of commercial, industrial, institutional or municipal waste, including companies running roll-off boxes and dumpsters, that wants to dump at the Bartow County Landfill in unincorporated Bartow County. Only permitted collectors may use the landfill; disposing without a permit is unlawful. The application goes through the county solid waste management department under § 62-65 and must list the owner's name, address and phone number, plus every collection vehicle's state registration number, chassis and body description, tag number, tare weight and proof of insurance.

Applicants must also certify in writing that every customer served is located inside Bartow County and that only county-generated waste will be dumped at the county landfill; § 62-65(3) allows the county to suspend or revoke a permit for a false certification. 00 per roll-off box, though the code notes fees can be revised by resolution of the county commissioner. Every permitted vehicle and roll-off box must display the hauler's business name, address or phone number, tare weight and vehicle identification number in letters at least three inches tall, plus a county-issued registration decal on both sides, per § 62-61(d).

Municipalities inside the county that collect their own waste with municipally owned or leased trucks are exempt under § 62-64. A person may also apply for a 72-hour temporary permit under § 62-66 to dump on an irregular basis, though a temporary permit holder still must follow the vehicle construction and covering rules in §§ 62-71 and 62-72, which require enclosed, leakproof, tarp-covered loads and immediate cleanup of any roadway spillage at the hauler's expense.
